  • Jewish folk music. Klezmer music
  • Chamber Symphony op 83a.         D. Shostakovich/R. Barshai

Music history is a constant Domino effect.  Bartok was inspired by Eastern European music and the style and forms of the late baroque when he wrote the Divertimento for strings.     For the Chamber symphony op 83a (originally his fourth string quartet), Shostakovich used many musical sources of traditional Jewish music.  With re:call, the Rotterdam Ensemble makes the relation between the works and their sources of inspiration a living dialogue.
